Welcome to Cura

At the current time Cura is in a time of transition. Our small charity is changing and sadly we are unable to accept any further grant applications during this time. We will keep our website updated but in the meantime if you require financial support please contact your local Macmillan nursing team either via your GP or local hospital Breast Unit or visit the website: www.macmillan.org.uk. Your local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) can also offer invaluable advice. We apologise that we are unable to accept any further grant applications at the current time.

What we do

Cura supports breast cancer patients by way of financial grants.

  • Do you live in the Hillingdon and Home Counties area?
  • Are you struggling to make ends meet, whilst coping with breast cancer?
  • If the answer to the above questions is yes, Cura would like to hear from you - we may be able to help.

Cura makes grants to help breast cancer patients, regardless of whether they are being treated within the NHS or private sector. Cura Grants are generally IRO £300 and we prefer to put the amount towards something specific, maybe a fuel bill, a new washing machine, a new bed or some help in the home.

Cura welcomes applications from patients directly or referrals from their health care professionals.

Cura Cup

Cura is sponsoring a new annual award which will recognise and celebrate ‘Community Spirit’ to be awarded annually to selected a pupil or teacher of Heath Mount School. The award is being sponsored as an expression of gratitude to one of their teachers, Simon Pay who, along with his wife Georgina, made an incredible collaborative effort to support Cura with many different events and challenges including the 3 Peaks Challenge, school fundraising summer ball and a ballet event held at the school. Cura wanted to recognise the hard work which Simon put in to recognise the work that we do.

Marathon run in aid of Cura

Emma Paul is kindly running the London Marathon in aid of Cura. We're excpetionally grateful to her and hopefully she raises lots of money for us. In Emma's words:
'Hi, My Name is Emma Paul and this year I will be running the London Marathon for the first time. I live in Hertfordshire so when I came across Cura I was really excited to fund raise for a local charity supporting breast cancer patients.' Please donate here

Bake sale

You can’t miss the shocking pink Cura gazebo! We have friends and supporters ready and willing to bake cakes for us to sell at all kinds of events! Look out for us at Uxbridge Sports Club County Cricket Days, Bishops Wood Hospital cake sales and Eastcote Cricket Club Cura cricket match. Maybe you are an organisation planning an event at which we can hold a bake sale and provide refreshments raising extra funds for Cura?

Spring black tie ball

Moor Park Golf Club has been host to our glamorous Spring Balls! The mansion house has provided an exceptional venue for our biggest fundraising events and offered kind generosity towards Cura. The balls have been fun-filled including a sumptuous dinner, auction, raffle, casino and other entertainment with live music. Everyone has enjoyed a fabulous evening whilst raising money and awareness for the charity.

Quiz night

Hosted by our friends at Uxbridge Sports Club, our annual Supper Quiz Night has proved popular with locals and supporters alike. An informal evening of question rounds on specific subjects makes for a fun and competitive evening with lots of laughs along the way and a delicious supper!

Cricket match

This annual event is a highlight in our calendar in late summer. Held at Eastcote Cricket Club with our bountiful cake and tea stall, we sell raffle tickets and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. The wonderful Ickenham Ladies cricket team and the Bishops Wood Hospital team provide entertainment and banter as they battle it out on the pitch! These generous-hearted people give their time and energy to support Cura providing spectators at a truly special local event.
